Book 17
The Book of the Prohibited actions
كتاب الأمور المنهي عنها
This is a large section warning against prohibited actions, beginning with the harms of the tongue: backbiting, slander, lying, false testimony, and breaking ties. It continues through diseases of the heart such as envy, suspicion, arrogance, and rejoicing at another's misfortune, and through wrongs against others' wealth and dignity. It also covers many forbidden practices in worship, dealings, and conduct, along with the seriousness of oaths. Set among so much encouragement to do good, this section marks clearly the lines a believer is asked not to cross.
