Riyad as-Salihin · Chapter 331

Prohibition of Describing the Charms of a Woman to a man without a valid reason approved by the Shari'ah

This chapter guards the eyes of the heart as much as the eyes of the body. The Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade a woman from mingling with another woman and then painting her physical details for her husband so vividly that he could all but see her. The concern is the way words can plant images and stir desire toward what is forbidden.

The deeper point sits squarely in the realm of character and modesty: a tongue can expose what should stay private and can open a door to temptation without anyone being seen. The Buruja takeaway is that protecting modesty includes guarding our descriptions of others, not only our glances. Where any related ruling has finer detail, that belongs to the scholars.

Hadith 1742

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "No woman should touch another woman's body and then describe the details of her figure to her husband in such a manner as if he was looking at her." [Al- Bukhari].

In plain words

A woman should not describe another woman's body to her husband so vividly that he could all but picture her. Modesty includes guarding our descriptions of others, not only our glances.
