Prohibition of Pointing with a Weapon at another Brother in Faith

This chapter draws a firm line around how we handle anything that can wound. A weapon is never a prop for a joke, and a blade is never a thing to wave near another person. The Arabic word silah covers any instrument of harm, and the ruling holds whether the one carrying it is serious or only playing.

Notice the reasoning the Prophet (peace be upon him) gives. The danger is not only the intention but the accident, the slip of the hand, the thing no one planned. Buruja's takeaway here is about guarding others from harm we did not even mean, treating their safety as a trust we carry.

Hadith 1783

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "None of you should point at his brother with a weapon because he does not know that Satan may make it lose from his hand and, as a result, he may fall into a pit of Hell-fire (by accidentally killing him)." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. The narration in Muslim is: Abul-Qasim (i.e., the Messenger of Allah) (ﷺ) said, "He who points at his (Muslim) brother with a weapon is cursed by the angels even if the other person should be his real brother."

In plain words

The Prophet said never to point a weapon at a fellow believer, since it could slip and cause harm no one intended, and the Muslim wording adds that one who does so is cursed by the angels. The lesson is guarding others even from accidental harm.

Hadith 1784

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited from presenting a drawn sword to another." [Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].

In plain words

The Prophet forbade handing someone a drawn, unsheathed sword. It is a simple safeguard against an accidental injury.
