Wuffiyat: paid in full. Not approximately. Not rounded. The smallest atom in your favor will be counted. The smallest atom against you will be counted. Then He says: He knows BEST.

Think about what wuffiyat means in commerce. To be paid in full is to receive every coin that is due. No skimming, no shortage. Now imagine the cosmic ledger Allah keeps with you. Every prayer you ever prayed: in the column. Every dhikr you ever whispered: in the column. Every dirham you slipped into a beggar's hand: in the column. Every smile that lit someone's afternoon: in the column. And every gossip session, every glance at the forbidden, every postponed obligation: in the column. The book is exact. The verse promises that on the Day, every entry will be paid in full. And then comes the final layer: wa huwa aʿlamu bi-mā yafʿalūn, He knows best what they did. Even more than what the angels recorded. Even more than what you remember. Even more than what your own conscience admits. He knows BEST. There is a tenderness here for the believer who feels his small deeds are invisible. Allah is saying: I see them. I count them. I will pay you in full. There is also a warning for the believer who hides his sins. Allah is saying: I see them. I count them. I know best what you really did. Yā Allāh, You who pay in full, do not pay us only what we earned, but treat us with the wafāʾ of Your mercy that exceeds our deeds, and overlook by Your knowing what You alone know best. Āmīn.
