Yā Rabb, the elegance of Your language broke me. You called the sadaqah a beautiful loan to YOU. You framed Yourself, the Mālik of all wealth, as the borrower of the believer's charity. You positioned the giver as the lender. You promised doubling plus generous additional reward. Ya Allah, what generous-Lord-framing. Forgive me, ya Rabb, for the times I framed sadaqah as expense. As outflow. As loss. Each time, my chest tightened because the language was wrong. Your verse renames the transaction: I am lending to You. The relationship is inverted from how shayṭān whispers it. He says: you are losing. You say: I am borrowing. He says: the money is gone. You say: I am holding it for you, doubled. He says: the recipient is the beneficiary. You say: YOU are the beneficiary, because the loan is to Me. Realign my language, ya Allāh. Every donation: 'I am lending Allah a beautiful loan.' Every zakat: 'I am lending Allah a beautiful loan.' Every secret cash I drop in a stranger's pocket: 'I am lending Allah a beautiful loan.' And on the Day when the lenders are called forward to receive their loans returned doubled plus generously, ya Rabb, let me find that my loan-portfolio with You was substantial. Doubled. And the generous reward attached. Āmīn ya Karīm.
