The Hour of Acceptance on Friday

The hadith

«إِنَّ فِي الجُمُعَةِ سَاعَةً، لَا يُوَافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ، وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي، يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا، إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ». وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ يُقَلِّلُهَا.

The Prophet ﷺ said: 'There is on Friday an hour during which no Muslim servant stands praying and asking Allah for something, except that He gives it to him.' And he indicated with his hand that it is short. (Bukhari 935, Muslim 852). The strongest opinion is that this hour is between ʿAṣr and Maghrib.

Svenska: Profeten ﷺ sade: 'På fredagen finns en timme under vilken ingen muslimsk tjänare står och ber och frågar Allah om något, utom att Han ger det till honom.' (Bukhari 935, Muslim 852)

Bukhari 935; Muslim 852

The story

Anas ibn Mālik would sit between ʿAṣr and Maghrib on Fridays and ask Allah for everything that came to his mind. His duʿāʾs were famously answered. He understood the hour.

Why it's here

There is a guaranteed-accepted hour every Friday. The Prophet ﷺ indicated its brevity but its certainty. The believer who positions himself in duʿāʾ during this hour every Friday has a weekly investment of guaranteed yield.

Try it today

Between ʿAṣr and Maghrib on Friday, sit in duʿāʾ. List your most important requests. Repeat them with sincerity. Pair them with salawat on the Prophet ﷺ. The hour passes; the requests are recorded.

In your day

Schedule Friday afternoon as protected duʿāʾ time. Even 30 minutes between ʿAṣr and Maghrib in the masjid or at home. Build the habit. Allah's promise is real; place yourself in the path of the gift.

A reflection to carry

Allah guaranteed an accepted hour every Friday. Position yourself in it.

Read the longer reflection

Sāʿat al-Ijābah is one of the most underused gifts in the Ummah's weekly life. The Prophet's ﷺ promise is unconditional: any Muslim servant standing in prayer asking Allah will be given. The hour exists every Friday. The strongest opinion places it between ʿAṣr and Maghrib. Position yourself there. Ask for the dunyā what is best; ask for the ākhirah what is best. Pair the asking with salawat. The believer's weekly duʿāʾ capacity is multiplied through this one hour. May Allah grant us awareness of His timed mercies, and may our Friday afternoons become weekly summits of supplication.
