The supplications Allah taught in His Book

These are not tied to a time. Reach for them in sujood, after prayer, in the last third of the night, or whenever your heart needs words. Many begin with 'Rabbana' (Our Lord) or 'Rabbi' (My Lord), the gentle, intimate way the Qur'an teaches us to open.

Each card shows the supplication from its verse, with the meaning and the reference. The recitation plays the full ayah. Learn a few by heart; they will come to you exactly when you need them.

  1. 1

Good in this world and the next

Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

    Qur'anAl-Baqarah 2:201

The du'a the Prophet ﷺ made more than any other.

  2. 2

    Patience and steadfastness

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

    Qur'anAl-Baqarah 2:250
  3. 3

Keep my heart from going astray

Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

    Qur'anAal-Imran 3:8

A du'a for the gift you can lose: guidance itself.

  4. 4

We have believed, so forgive us

Those who say, 'Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire,'

    Qur'anAal-Imran 3:16
  5. 5

The du'a of Adam, turning back after sin

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

    Qur'anAl-A'raf 7:23

The words Adam said after he slipped. Carry them when you fall.

  6. 6

Make me steadfast in prayer, the du'a of Ibrahim

My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.

    Qur'anIbrahim 14:40-41
  7. 7

    Increase me in knowledge

My Lord, increase me in knowledge.

The du'a of Yunus, from the depths

There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.

    Qur'anAl-Anbiya 21:87

The Prophet ﷺ said no Muslim ever supplicates with it for anything but that Allah answers him.

  9. 9

    Forgive us and have mercy

Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'

    Qur'anAl-Mu'minun 23:109
  10. 10

Coolness of the eyes, for spouse and children

In need of whatever good You send, the du'a of Musa

My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.

    Qur'anAl-Qasas 28:24

  12. 12

For those who came before us in faith

Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.

    Complete our light

Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.

    Qur'anAt-Tahrim 66:8

Why we ask in His words

Every one of these du'as was answered. Adam was forgiven, Yunus was lifted from the dark, Musa was given work and a home and a family within days of his prayer. When you borrow their words, you join a line of the answered stretching back to the first human being.

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the next, and protect us from the Fire. Our Lord, accept it from us; indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.

Questions

What are the Qur'anic du'as?
They are the supplications that appear in the Qur'an itself, many beginning with 'Rabbana' (Our Lord). They include the du'a of Adam, of Yunus in the whale, of Ibrahim, of Musa, and the prayers of the believers for good in both worlds, for steadfastness, for a righteous family and for forgiveness.
Why make du'a in the words of the Qur'an?
Because they are the words Allah Himself chose and praised. Asking with them is asking in speech that is guaranteed to be pure, complete and beloved to Him. They are also easy to memorise and stay with you for life.
What is the most comprehensive du'a in the Qur'an?
Many scholars point to 'Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina adhab an-nar' (2:201), 'Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the Fire.' The Prophet ﷺ made this du'a more than any other.

Every supplication is grounded via quran.ai: Arabic in Uthmani script (ar-uthmani-minimal) and the Saheeh International translation. The recitable supplication shown on each card is selected from its verse (the supplication clause to the end of the ayah); this is a verified substring of the fetched ayah, never a rewrite, and the recitation audio (Mishary Rashid Alafasy, everyayah.com) plays the full ayah. With thanks to lifewithallah.com; framing is Buruja's own. FOR SCHOLAR REVIEW: confirm each verse selection before publication.
