The Qur'an names Paradise by several titles: Jannat ʿAdn, Jannat al-Maʾwā, Jannat al-Khuld, Jannat al-Firdaws, Jannat al-Naʿīm. Each names one of its dimensions. Naʿīm names the body's response: the senses are at peace, the heart is at ease, the limbs find rest. Naʿīm is what the body has been hungry for all its days.
Qur'an 31:8
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
“Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have Gardens of Pleasure. (Luqmān 31:8)”

The story
Sūrat Luqmān contains the wisdom Luqmān gave his son: do not associate partners with Allah, walk humbly, lower your voice. The sūrah opens with the contrast: those who buy idle tales (laghw al-ḥadīth that leads people away from Allah) vs. those who receive the Gardens of Naʿīm. Luqmān's wisdom prepares the soul for the second destination.
In the language
'Naʿīm' is from naʿima (to be soft, comfortable, plentiful). It refers to the soft life that does not bruise the soul, the ease that does not require apology. The plural 'jannāt' is significant: Paradise has many gardens, not one. Each believer is given multiple gardens (jannatān fī kullin minhā, two gardens in each, from al-Raḥmān 55:46-62). Naʿīm is not the absence of difficulty; it is the presence of every good thing in its restful form.
Why this verse
This verse names the dimension of Paradise that our bodies most ache for: a place where ease does not end. Today's verse asks: what fragmented naʿīm are you running after that the Garden will deliver whole?
Bring it into today
The dunyā promises naʿīm-like things constantly: comfort, ease, pleasure. They all deliver fragmentarily. The Garden's naʿīm is the complete version. The believer's restraint with dunyā-naʿīm is not a refusal of pleasure; it is an apprenticeship for the unbreakable pleasure.
A reflection to carry
Naʿīm is not the world's pleasure inflated. It is what our pleasure was already a fragment of. To enter the Garden is to enter the unbroken version of what we have only ever touched in pieces.

There is a famous saying: 'If the kings of the dunyā knew the rest of the people of Paradise, they would fight us with swords for it.' The kings of the dunyā are paying for sleep with billions and not finding it. The Garden's naʿīm is given. Naʿīm in the Qur'anic sense is total: the senses are at peace because what they receive is already harmonious; the heart is at peace because the fears the dunyā taught it have no continuation; the body is at peace because pain is permanently subtracted. This is what your body has been crying for in every massage, every nap, every long bath. Those are postcards, again, from the Gardens of Naʿīm. The verse promises: this dimension is FOR believers, lahum. Owned. Permanent. May our share of Naʿīm be plenty, and may we recognize at every weary moment of the dunyā that the rest we are running after is waiting at the door.
