Qur'an 10:47

Every community is sent a messenger, and when their messenger comes, they will be judged justly; they will not be wronged. (Quran 10:47)

Svenska: Och för varje samfund finns ett sändebud, och när deras sändebud kom till dem dömdes de med rättvisa och ingen oförrätt tillfogades dem. (Koranen 10:47)

A reflection to carry

Read the verse and let the universal scope sink in. 'Wa li-kulli ummatin rasūl.' Every community was sent a messenger. No people in history were left to be judged without first being addressed with a clear message. And when the messenger came, the judgment proceeded fairly: 'fa-idhā jāʾa rasūluhum quḍiya baynahum bi-l-qisṭi wa hum lā yuẓlamūn.' By justice, with no wrong done to them. Ya akhī, ya ukhtī, this verse closes a question many believers ask: what about people who never heard? Allah answered: every community received what was sufficient to judge them. The mechanism is His; His knowledge is complete. And for us, who received the final Messenger ﷺ, the verse turns inward: we are the community whose messenger has arrived. The justice that comes 'when the messenger comes' is now in our court. What did you do with Muḥammad ﷺ? With his ﷺ Sunnah on greeting? On parenting? On business? On worship? Every Sunnah ignored is a piece of qisṭ we will face on the Day.

Read the longer reflection

Yā Rabb, You did not leave any community without the means of guidance. Every people received a messenger. Every culture, every era, every geography. And You promised: when the messenger came, judgment proceeded justly. No one was wronged in the calculation. Your ʿadl reached across all of history through a network of messengers we cannot fully see. Ya Allāh, I am part of the community of the final Messenger ﷺ. The messenger has come. The verses are on my shelves. The Sunnah is in my reach. The hadith collections are translated into my languages. I have no excuse of distance, no excuse of ignorance, no excuse of inaccessibility. The judgment that 'comes when the messenger comes' has the closest possible reach to me. Forgive me, ya Rabb, for treating that proximity as ordinary. Forgive me for the verses I have read past, the Sunnahs I have not implemented, the hadiths I have intellectualized without internalizing. Make me a believer who, when Allah measures my response to His Messenger ﷺ, finds my response substantial. Not just professed belief; lived adherence. The morning duʿās of the Prophet ﷺ on my tongue. The sleeping duʿās on my pillow. The eating Sunnahs at my table. The greeting Sunnahs at my doors. The parenting Sunnahs in my home. The business Sunnahs in my work. And on the Day You judge every community by what they did with their messenger, ya Rabb, place me among those who received the final Messenger ﷺ with the full weight he ﷺ deserves. Āmīn ya Mursil al-rusul.

A verse, a healing, and a Sunnah, every morning.
